MY WORK
Art is my language—a vibrant and dynamic form of communication that allows me to channel inspiration from nature, global experiences, and the beauty that surrounds us. Through fun and energetic abstract collages, I aim to capture fleeting moments, emotions, and patterns that resonate deeply. My work often reflects themes that words cannot express, inspired by colors, textures, and the essence of life’s natural rhythms.
By incorporating these elements, I strive to create art that invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect—whether it’s to a personal memory, a shared feeling, or a deeper narrative within the piece. My goal is to engage people emotionally through art that is freeing, bold, and visually compelling.
My artistic process is fluid and intuitive. I embrace the freedom of abstract art to explore feelings and memories, allowing my heart and hands to guide me. By layering, blending, and building textures, I use diverse tools—brushes, rollers, palette knives, and unconventional objects—to bring depth and energy to my work. Playing with varying viscosities of paint creates both sharp contrasts and flowing movements, evoking the vibrancy of nature and the joy of artistic exploration.
Through my art, I hope to inspire a connection that is as liberating and transformative for the viewer as it is for me.
BIO
Nuha Moretz, a Yemeni-American artist based in Salt Lake City, Utah, traces her artistic journey to her formative years in Tokyo, Japan, where the seeds of her creativity were sown. It was in the high school art labs of Tokyo that she first discovered her passion for creating, a passion that would later become an integral part of her identity.
Though initially pursuing an M.A. in International Studies as a Fulbright Scholar and working in education reform and gender equity, Nuha’s career took her across continents—spanning North and East Africa, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. These experiences were more than just professional milestones; they were transformative moments that deeply influenced her development as an artist. Immersed in diverse cultures, she built lasting connections with local artists, gaining insights into various artistic traditions that would shape her unique style.
Nuha’s art is a reflection of this expansive journey. Her contemporary abstract works, often expressed through vibrant collages and organic forms, evoke the simplicity and profound beauty of nature. Her creative process is an ongoing exploration of the world around her—a world that encompasses both the external landscapes she has encountered and the internal landscapes of memory, identity, and emotion. Each piece she creates is an invitation to engage with the stories and experiences that connect us all, offering viewers a moment to pause, reflect, and find solace in the calming interplay of color, texture, and form.
Although there were pauses in her artistic path—moments where family and career took precedence—the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic reignited Nuha’s passion for painting. What began as a return to daily artistic practice soon became a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment. Her work began to gain recognition through exhibitions at prestigious art fairs, both nationally and internationally, and her pieces now reside in private collections around the globe. These works transcend cultural boundaries, offering a universal language that resonates with diverse audiences.
For Nuha, art is not merely a practice but a lifelong exploration of identity, memory, and the beauty found in the world around us. Through her work, she continues to seek new ways to express the harmony between humanity and nature, celebrating the quiet yet profound connections that bind us all.
