MY WORK
I am drawn to the quiet space where sky meets land—where stillness holds both presence and possibility. Through abstract, mixed media work, I explore the horizon as more than a line in the distance; it becomes a place of pause, transition, and subtle transformation.
The Arabic phrase “بين السماء والأرض” (Bayna as-samā’ wa al-’arḍ)—“between the sky and the earth”—guides my Horizon series. It reflects an in-between space shaped by uncertainty and hope. In my work, the horizon softens and expands, allowing land, water, and the sky to dissolve into one another, inviting contemplation rather than definition.
My process is both intuitive and intentional. I work with restrained palettes and layered textures, building and reducing until each piece settles into balance. Layers are revealed and concealed over time, echoing the way memory and emotion surface. Negative space is essential—it allows the work to breathe and creates a sense of quiet presence.
My work does not aim to replicate place, but to translate its essence. I am interested in what is felt rather than seen: the calm of an open horizon, the stillness of air, and the subtle movement of light across space.
